That would explain why there's a lot of ocean. Entirely too much ocean.

    And: source please?

The unnamed map is indeed from Mystery Dungeon: Red/Blue Rescue Team (I know it well...). If I recall correctly, Ranger (the first one at least) took place on a tiny little island, so that might be that little orphaned island apart from the main body of Japan, or the the smaller island that's part of the Chubu area...

Now - how do Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time/Darkness and the second Ranger title fit into the conspir - I mean map? And I love how perfectly Hoenn fits the southern island...

    Really guys...

Didn't the Japanese sounding area names ever tip you off?

    Kanto, Johto, Hoenn & Sinnoh?

Actually the first one was a very big tip off for me.

The first trivia is a bit surprising about fans providing the game music, but nothing new. That seems particular to Japan, game publishers making fans contribute to making a game. Have you guys ever played & finished Megaman 8 for the PSOne? At the Credits, the game presents you the fan submitted designs for the game's boss robots.

@kirbster: No, but they could have used fancy area names, just like what they did with the towns. Or here's an idea, when the North American & European versions were made, they should have altered the game's map to show a part of Europe or a state in America as the Area map, that way this trivia thing would be even more unique.

One of them is mentioned in Death Note, I believe, so yeah, I had figured that out.

But about the fan made music, that's interesting.

I have to admit, the game is fun and its a great RPG, but I find Pokemon as a whole (TV shows, merch etc.) as a little extreme. Don't really see the big deal and why people are so interested in it.

All pokemon names are similar to real things ,names and places.

    Hitmonchan - Jackie Chan
    Hitmonlee - Bruce Lee

    Squirtle: Squirting Turtle
    Charizard: Charming Lizard

and I read somewhere that the creator of Pokemon had a snake... Wanna guess its name?

    ARBOK!
