What is with the Japanese' Obsession with Robophilia!?

    Woah there!

Now before you guys consider this thread as being non-PG 13 & before you guys do post anything on here that's not PG-13 let me explain why I put up this thread.

I've been playing & have finished the entire Megaman Zero Game series on the GBA. Now I am a fan of the Megaman franchise as the games always kick ass!

However.... the games had a plot point that absolutely sickened me, that being Humans falling in love with robots (or as they are called in the games, Reploids). Now I understand that Reploids were made to look almost human & have been given superior AI enabling them to have emotions & free will BUT THEY ARE NOT TECHNICALLY ALIVE & HENCE CAN NOT REPRODUCE SEXUALLY!

I absolutely hate the Japanese' obsession with Robophilia & the notion that Robots (of the future) & humans should be equal. And why the heck are these people so obsessed with giving robots with advanced AI in the first place!?

Surely movies like the terminator, Matrix & I Robot & games like the Megaman franchise have shown time & again that such a foolish endeavor can lead to humanity's destruction!?

I rather be it they (scientists & Engineers) build Giant Robots for combat just like in the Gundam & retro Super Robot animes instead as those are so cool.

And another thing I hate about Japanese culture is their idea that women are always chasing after their men & cry a lot, that's so pre 20th century :p God that Ciel character in the game was so annoying! And the Japanese like that kind of girl huh!? Sheesh! I'd call a woman like that excess baggage :p The ending to Megaman Zero 4 was excruciatingly horrible, not only is Zero pressumably dead, but that bitch Ciel was crying all through out the credits rolling, absolutely pathetic!

If she was really so concerned & wanted to find Zero, why didn't she leave the resistance & find him on her own, instead of crying like a weany like that!?

Take for example Cornett from "Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure", now she's a good female role model :)

She actually went out to look for her Prince Charming & in the end was the one who saved the man of her dreams, instead of him saving her. Sadly though, a lot of men do find that "brave" women a turn off which in itself is kind of demoralizing women as well.

Robots develop emotions, become almost human like...yada yada...take over the world...yada yada...got good looking curves like our finest women...etc...

Guess the concept of "equel treatment for all sentient beings" went too far :(

    Robots:

    -don't have feelings
    -don't sue you for harassment
    -can be shut off
    -can be traded
-you can have as many robots as you like and none of them get jealous
    -you can control robots
    -robots don't question your orders
    And so on...

Also, most people don't get the concept of Japanese drama. It goes like this:

    -They meet.
-They confess love for each other
-The man turns back in his confession
    -The woman cries
-The man comes back on his decision once more.
-They confess love for each other(again)
    -They make out(optional)
    -Someone dies.(generally the man dies)

Generally the same for all asian dramas.

Have you watched the 2000 remake of Astroboy or Chobits or the movies Bi centennial Man or A.I.?

    Westerners have vibrators.
    The Japanese have ambition.

What would be the difference in a robot constructed from biological matter with an advanced ANN (Artificial Neural Net) and emotions?

ITT: Cahos basing his opinion about Japanese people off a couple of games and anime series and being completely unaware of the fact that Japanese cultural norms are different to his own.

Define life for me, will you?

Also lol at putting down infertile people.

Then go watch The Terminator and Gundam instead of Astroboy.

There are chicks like that outside of Japanese entertainment ya know. It's not just limited to the Japanese. Also Major Motoko Kusanagi.

    Screw those men, then.

Also the impression I was getting.

Also, who doesn't like robots?! Cahos, are you Amish?

I AM aware that the Japanese have several unique cultural ideals different from my own, thank you very much LOL!

And don't you watch or read about the news? The Japanese have delved into creating robots that look like actual people:

1.A robot designed to be Teh perfect Woman - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OofaA0swDI4

Just listen to the guy say, "We designed her to be the perfect woman as some men have a difficult time finding teh perfect woman".

Well if Mr. Robotics Engineer just stopped jacking off to hentai anime or even hardcore Pr0ns & started actually dating women he probably wouldn't say something as, "we can't find teh perfect woman" :p

    2. A robot designed to act like an infant - http://www.physorg.com/news158151870.html

Yeah, this one's delving too much into the I - Robot & A.I. scenario, don't you think :p

I do like Robots, but not like the ones you're envisioning who fondle with your penis for your sick perverted pleasure :p

I'm more into giant robots that kill, kill kill! Or at least you ride in & take control & use to fight bad guys with :p

    Also

You obviously didn't understand what I meant. It's not about infertility, it's about passing on genes & being part on a gene pool. Had you watched Bi centennial Man you'd understand my point.

    Quoting the movie:

Hey, man. Just how many Natewlies exist in the world? Anyway, if I had the opportunity, I'd probably be building someone who would love my unconditionally too. Most humans are too unreliable.

OK. Let's discuss your "unconditional love" statement then....

Say the thing you created who you gave superior intelligence & free will to suddenly decides to ask you to let her go? Would you? If you did mean "unconditional love" as what I know what that means.

    Also, you're emo eh!?

As only a pessimistic emo would be the kind of person to say something like this. If you truly love your fellow man, you'd know not everyone is worthless.

I'd let that one go and build another one.

Which is why I said most.

    ...Huh?

So don't get a robot girl in the future.
Why the idea should sicken you is a bit odd, if you knew this kind of thing was going on now in the real world would you have a problem with minding your own business? or are we witnessing the birth of a new breed of nosy pricks who just can't stand other people doing stuff in private that they cannot stomach, or do themselves.
You sir should get laid(by a robot if need be(secretly you want it, it's ok :-;)) but get some sex quick please.

Sorry Cahos, even futuristic intolerance is ignorant, love what you like and like what you love, and do mind your own business.

...So, what's wrong with humans falling in love with robots again? How about the other way around? Like in Futurama, when Bender starts dating Lucy Liu.

If robots were like the robots in Futurama, then I wouldn't be too surprised that people would fall in love with them and vice versa. They're just mechanized humans. With antennae instead of penises (although that could be easily attached).

    lololololololololoolololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololol

Movies and video games can also be an inaccurate depiction of the future?! wat!! Aw man, I thought the year 2000 would turn out to be like The Jetsons, man, was I disappointed.

Just for the record, this is probably the most flawed and ignorant rant I've read in a while.

[*]A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
[*]A robot must obey any orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
[*]A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
If you programmed robots not to have a "flexible" AI (as in, they can learn and even alter bits of their programming) with the Three Laws of Robotics, and made sure that they did abide from them, then I'm sure your robots wouldn't turn out to be genocidal. Unless you reprogrammed them to be. Which would be really sad.

I think all you need to do is make sure your robots never somehow have their programming altered, and for those with higher functions that can apply abstract ideas to situations, keep them busy like hell. Or else, they might gather information in their free time. That's not really bad unless they start applying that information to themselves... And then they'll start to realise something.

I thought there was more to love then just sex, silly me

  19. Natewlie

    Natewlie A bag of tricks

There is, but sex still takes a good part of love. Also, sex to me is not mainly a form of reproduction, it's also a form of pleasure and expression of the physical nature of love, which can exist between a mechanized human being. I can see it happen.

Oh hell, it happens with the rabbit for christ sakes.

I'm just gonna go on a limb out here and say that I think David from AI was more alive than say, a person with severe brain damage in a catatonic state.

Also, I don't think most four-year-old humans can reproduce sexually... So, uh, I guess they're not alive and therefore should not be loved. Also my cat is neutered.

Everyone in my family thinks sex is sinful and dirty and base and Satanic and stuff, lol.
