Hey guys I just found another neat SNES Fan translation project that's just recently been released courtesy of RHDN, however to avoid eating up their bandwidth I'll just directly post the link to the team who did the translation's main site:

    http://www.dqtranslations.com/projects/gh3

First off, I find it a bit odd that a Fan Translation community dedicated to Dragon Quest (Warrior) games would do this project that has nothing to do with the Dragon Quest universe, heck the game isn't even by Enix, or today's Square-Enix. The only thing that could connect this game to Square-Enix is the game's story writer Kazushige Nojima who did Final Fantasy VII & that this game is a Dragon Quest clone, especially when it comes to its "first person perspective" battle scheme.

If you want to see the game in action, here is a Youtube video uploaded by the translators themselves:

Just listen to that "generic yet epic" Soundtrack LOL!

OK, now about the translation patch itself.

About three years ago this game was actually translated earlier by another group, but their patch was riddled by a lot of hacking bugs, some of which would even cause the game to lock up & crash :(

This new patch won't, as DQ Translation redid the hacking from scratch & with today's better ROM Hacking techniques & utilities this project is way better & cleaner.... But it still isn't perfect. The readme file that comes along with the patch states that the game still suffers from random text overflow (for those of you unfamiliar with the terms associated with ROM Hacking, text overflow is when the text that shows up on a game which is usually inside a specified window spills out of the window & scrolls nastily all over the screen) , in fact at the very beginning of the game itself after you fall into the gaping hole that suddenly appears & the hero's friend talks her dialog spills out of the window horribly. As such, the guys at DQ Translations will probably release a better patch in the future just like what they did with Dragon Quest III.

    Patching the game:

You'll need to get the ROM here from RomUlation of course, on this link:

    https://www.romulation.org/Retro/SNES/Herakles_no_Eikou_III_-_Kamigami_no_Chinmoku.7z.html/

After you unzip the archive you'll need to use the file named "Herakles no Eikou III - Kamigami no Chinmoku (J).smc"

Once you've got the ROM get the patch here:

    http://www.dqtranslations.com/projects/gh3 <- DQTrans site

    or

    http://www.romhacking.net/trans/967/ <- RHDN page

So what are ya' waitin' for? Go get the game & play! :D

The game handles just like Dragon Quest does too. =/

It's just more greek mythology based and that's about the only difference. Hell, that Reion guy or whatever his name is looks eerily similar to the Hero from Dragon Quest V too.

    LOL!

I was expecting the hero to look like Kevin Sorbo, sadly no luck ;D

    Hi trev1 :)

You'll need to apply the English translation patch you downloaded onto the Herakles no Eikou ROM you got off RomUlation. To do so, go to this relevant link & follow the steps mentioned in the tutorial:
