R4 discontinued!?????

Yes, no originals being manufactured, because clones/fakes popping up all over the place (R4 Pro for example) that are not made by the original team.

 

i hope my'ns and original i looks like the real one, so the's that mean there will be no more firmware upgrades

 

I assume they will continue to upgrade the firmware for a little while yet, though there are alot of better cards on the market so im sure R4 will die out completely.

if you want r4 firmware get n5 firmware and patch it with r4crypt

Does an unofficial firmware harm an official R4 card???

I have YSmenu at the mo and it is working fine...

 

too bad we will never see r4 advance any further (officially anyway)

 

YSMenu is a trusted firmware for R4 (using DSTT firmware with more features), and so even I use that, so it's fine to use. However, you don't really know anything else with those new firmwares, and they might not provide anything better for you.

 

Thats what I guessed, YSmenu might not be as pretty as the DSTT men but the compatibility is the same (for obvious reasons) and it brings life back to the R4.

 

so do the fake ones like v1.24 harm the orginal R4 card??

 

most likely not but they may not provide you with any better compatibility

 

YSMenu uses the exact same menu.. Unless you're talking about the GUI.

 

hey but isnt there a new R4 official? I went on their website and its a new white one with a new case and usb card reader? seems like they still are in production since ive got an old black version

 

Well, the R4 Revolution is a R4 clone and it works fine. I feel kinda bad for the team who had people steal all their fame, but the product still works fine for me. Maybe they can make a new one with a new name and try to get it out there... you never know (actually, yes we do. So long, orignal R4)

 

As long as the carts play backups, I don't care too much.

 

Are the r4 cards on memorybits then proper or other companies making there own in there name...

They currently sell R4 SDHC and R4i.. both work fine... and the R4i only just came out.
