Ok, this is to go with my topic about my ps3 connection issues of late...

This is easy, now I was considering to go into the dmz with my router but unlike my netgear one I just cant work it out, and whatever I do I cant get it right with my ps3 so...I thought of the easiest thing to fix.

My modem has a firewall, now without thinking of protection to my internet, if I disable this, will it help?

My laptop is connecting fine, the speed shall vary but it doesnt cut out altogether unlike when I first got it.

The ps3 also stays connected, but will sign it's self out when gaming online, so...not sure if the ps3 is just glitching out and just not auto signing in or whatever, what I do know is this is frustrating.

I know the risk involved, but by turning off the router's firewalls, will that make it easier for devices to connect?

I noticed this, it worked...but then it resumed being a trouble maker ;(

I'd like to try giving my ps3 a static adress, how do I go about this?

The very ip adress I have, do I give this to my ps3 or the router one?

you want to give it an address in the same subnet as what the router issues, but outside of the router's dhcp range to prevent IP conflicts.

How do I find out what the router uses exactly?

I can get to the settings page of the router (billion brand btw) if needed.

it will be on the router's dhcp page.

    Erm...what is it actually called?

Sorry I was looking for a dhcp page...but I dont see anything like that, and being a noob at this stuff I got no clue what to look for.

I seen a page with "routing", would that be of any help?

No, I got it working...everything was right.

Laptop is still running with no net issues, ps3 isnt remaining connected...or stable.

is PS3 connected via a cable or wireless?

    Wireless.

See, with our old isp despite the limited bandwidth, it worked fine, now it's less than stable despite the extra speed...

My laptop is fine, it stays connected, the ps3 however isnt, it's mostly signing out (I presume the internet drops out for a moment at a time or something else...)

I gave it a static ip adress (took a few tries) and it worked...then it failed, same effect for killing the modem's firewall.

I got no idea what this is :S

Before I forget, I did turn off all internet appliances (my laptop in the same room as my psp, etc) and changed the adsl filters...no good >_<

wireless is notorious for dropping out for no reason. try a direct cable to the router if you can
