I know this is the wrong section and I know I can find the answer somewhere else,
    but meh :p

I borrowed my friend's psp and I was wondering if I could hack it withouth spending any money on hacks, like the Pandora's Battery.

It's a regular psp, not slim.

    thanks in advance

EDIT: right, this should be in non-emulation help.
    I'm sorry! (I'm in a hurry)

    The original?

Yeah. You can do it if you want to upgrade to 6.35, then use TN-C or D? I think it is now.

Or if you want to just have permanent CFW, then you can use 5.50 GEN-D3. Use the 5.03 firmware hack or the new TN-HEN and use Hellcat's recovery flasher to install 5.00 and upgrade to 5.50 GEN-D3.

Can I play roms after that?
and... since it isn't my psp... is it safe?

You should probably just stick with the TN-C on it if you don't want to risk bricking it.

    What firmware are you on?

Go all the way to the left.
Go to options, system settings and the firmware should be on there.

Not a problem. I'm usually up-to-date with PSP and Wii things.

I used this tutorial to put 5.00 m33 on my PSP 2000. It's the best and most stable custom firmware.

She doesn't want to mess up the PSP though. And without a Jigkick, then I wouldn't even attempt to install CFW. HEN is the way to go if you don't want to brick it.

you could always turn the battery into a jigkick from tn-c and use timemachine to run a cfw from the memory

What firmware does it work with though?

Even if it reverts you to an older firmware, at least you can upgrade your way to the proper firmware for 5.00 M33 or GEN-D3 ( <-- I think I have this one).

PSP1000s shouldn't have any issues if you're using a jigkick (Pandora), no matter the firmware.

OP doesn't want to spend any money, or in other words, no Pandora.

There are ways to mod the stock one.

If the battery can be changed. Some of the newer ones can't.
