I didn't know where else to post this, so yeah...

A friend of mine has a cartridge without an official label. He says it won't load, and the inside has a Famicon - NES adapter.

    The cartridge
What it does when attempting to boot
When the red light is stable, it shows a jumble of colors and stuff, but he tried for 20 minutes and couldn't get it that far.

What do you propose should be done to make it boot, so we can figure out what it is?

My normal recommendation for something like this (Since it wasn't mentioned) is to try blowing in it, maybe cleaning the the thing it reads from..

off-topic: I hope no one actually plays games in that room while it's that dark...bad for your eyes =/

He's tried that already, hence why I'm asking here.

    DO NOT USE ALCOHOL!

Alcohol will KILL it! It's why i no longer have an NES!

If you used alcohol, you're better off trying to find another copy of the game...if you know what it is that is >.>

He doesn't know what it is, hence why I'm trying to find out how we should go about making it work.

He says he used Windex to clean the game, so it's probably not alcohol-related problems.
And don't say using Windex is the problem, I think he tried the game before cleaning it..... :\

Hmmm...i did a lil' bit of looking around... And is the connector made to make the NES cartridge fit in the famicon, or vice-versa?

It's the adapter that allows you to play Famicon games in a NES... Either that, or it's a really early NES game, as I've been told that the early NES games have this same setup.

Then there's a chance that the game's region locked...from what i found there were 8 region-locked games made...

Oh, so he'll need a top-loader NES then?

But even then, it wouldn't load anything if it was region locked, right?

BTW, i'm just telling you stuff i find...it could be totally wrong >.>
But anyways, for it to work, it would need to be put in a famicon, because there's something in the extra connectors that makes it work..(Like i said, no guarantee on a thing i'm saying =/)

But it's got the adapter to make it work in a NES console.

Yeah, I don't see the game running any time soon.
