My PC was wrecked by that Super Typhoon that hit my country recently and I'm finally getting around to replacing my PC. What do you guys think?

    CPU: Intel Core i5 3570k
    MOBO: Gigabyte Z77
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB
    RAM: Crucial Ballistics Sport 4GB 1600MHz DDR3 (x2)
Storage: 120Gb SSD + 1TB Seagate Barracuda HDD

These are some of the most important components I'm thinking of getting plus a 450-500 watt power supply, a corsair carbide case and a Seidon 120M liquid cooling system and I've been told to get windows 8 for my OS but I'm not sure about that.

You may need more than 450w to power that rig.

    Also Windows 8 is garbage.

you need more than 4GB ram, you want at least 8, preferably 16.

if you can't afford an i7 3770k or higher, you're better off with an AMD system.

PSU wise you want a good brand and at least 650W

also you might want to reconsider the SSD, 120GB really won't last very long at all.

windows 8 is crap on desktops, stick with windows 7.

I'm following Loony's advice for my rig.
Suggest an AMD-FX8350, it's the best AMD CPU out there.

As Loony said, 120GB won't have much space left after you install Windows 7, the updates and drivers.
Most programs can be installed on an HDD, but some will hate you for it and screw up, so make sure those are installed onto the SDD (which takes up precious space).

For RAM, 8 or 16GB Corsair Vengeance should serve you fine.

I'll see if I can get those in if my budget allows it. After home repairs (which included replacing my home theater system) and car repairs (busted windows, water damage to the interior and the electrical system), my finances took a hit. Now you may ask why, in the middle of this financially trying time, would I further spend money on a PC?

Because It's been a month since I played a game and for me that may as well be a year. And I'm still lamenting the loss of my precious collection of games, movies, music, manga, ebooks and etc on my old hard drive.

    F*cking Haiyan....

    I feel you.
It's been a good year for me since I've been able to play any of the new releases on just stock settings or play at all.

And "etc." being what exactly? :p
