sometimes when you enter something in a search box it will leave the search text. how do you get rid of this thing from ever remembering what i type into the search box?!

    example;
i enter the word "cruise" on googles search box and get the results. i enter another word starting with "c" on the search box and below will list of words that start with "c". but the thing is i don't want that drop box. how do i get rid of it?!

i'm using internet explorer 6, not firefox.

btw, you can't simply highlight the text and press delete like in firefox. the build up is huge, so hopefully there is a solution to this.

Go to Internet Options then Advanced then under Browsing, look for use Inline Autocomplete or something similar. That should do it.

Can't you just live with it? It helps when you don't know exactly how to spell something. lol

But he wants to get rid of it. In a search engine such as google.

    With Google:

Click the bar, a submenu should come up, then go to View History at the bottom. Click on that then it gives a list of history with a Clear History option at the bottom of that submenu.

Somebody been looking at something they shouldn't be ? ;D

If you have a google toolbar, beside the searchbar there's a dropdown menu where you see your searches
and you can choose "clear search history"...
That will get rid of the search history on the google homepage aswell...

    If you don't have a toolbar.....why don't you have a toolbar ?

not only in google, but on everything that requires you to type in a word or whatever text you type to search for something. it's not that i have viewed porno or the likes of porno, i can use firefox for that, but that it becomes a huge drop box and you don't want others to know what you have been searching during your use and other reasons.

You should be able to do that with every search bar. Try right clicking some of the words in the dropdown menu.

kingofgamemasters777 helped me figure it out.
    what you do is,

go to internet options in internet explorer
then select the content tab in the internet options menu
click on autocomplete [then a menu pops up]
in the menu that pops up, unclick or do no select forms
click okay and go to google or to any site that has a search feature and the drop box will no longer be available.
