Are you serious? FO3 will be the worst game that the POS factory known as Bethesda has ever produced. They pull Oblivion out making it look all great, when in fact the game sucks, and now they are going to ruin a gameing franchize that came from the mind of Tim Cain and then he passed the torch to Brian Fargo, who took the game and did wonders to it. Was the torch ever passed to Bethsoft or Zenimax? NO IT WAS NOT they have even confirmed our worst fears... Morrowind with guns. The bethesda shinanigans will not be tolerated by me good sir. You think you know Fallout because you played oblivion and thought it was good? I would rather play Fallout:BOS, yes the console game that they see as the greatest in the series ( yes THEY means bethesda ) to base all of their facts upon. The BOS' background story in FO3 posted by bethsoft shows their gross misunderstanding of the world of fallout. e.g. http://fallout.bethsoft.com/eng/vault/diaries_diary3-1.09.08.html read it yourself and you will vomit, assuming that you know anything about fallout any way. Not only that, but bethesda didn't even attempt to hire any of the Van Buren staff, which we know rushed out a playable tec-demo of the game before interplay's demise. I hope I am not the only one disgusted by this outrage please respond if you know anything about fallout tell that Bethesda is wrong, about fallout.

    Re: Fallout 3

I hate to go too off-topic, but Kennington is right about Fallout 3 (although he may have been a bit harsh). What Bethesda is doing is pretty unforgivable (to borrow a term from Hodge Stansson). I understand that they don't know how to make a proper WRPG, and they're just trying to do what they do best, but there was no need to acquire the Fallout franchise if you weren't going to adhere to the design principles or canon of the originals. Hell, they even set the game on the other side of the country. Oblivion wasn't a good RPG in the classic sense, and Fallout 3, from the information we have now, is just going to be Oblivion with guns. Such a shame to see the greatest WRPG franchise of all time to get dragged through the mud... again.

As for GTAIV, hearing Lazlow talk about all the comedic content they've crammed into the game has me really looking forward to it.

This topic has nothing to do with Fallout 3. If you want to bash it or whatever, make a topic in the rants section and all will be well.

Also, Kennington, attacking other members for having different opinions is against the rules and it won't be tolerated.

I wasn't Attacking his character, but his opinion, because it is wrong. He said it would, pardon could be the best game of 2008, but we all know that butchered plot straying sequels always phail and i was simply informing him on this topic, also i was informing him that he was wrong while FO3 is highly anticipated it will suck totally, any bumbling fool can see that. I also have nothing against his character, just his opinion, because it is wrong. Nothing against him or anything. He is a nice guy I am sure.

'wrong' is subjective; you were saying oblivion was crap, I enjoyed it so I could say you are wrong. Your opinion is that it is crap, my opinion is that I enjoyed it. Equally, your opinion is that FO3 will suck; that is not necessarily the opinion held by others. And a game being anticipated isn't necessarily an indication of how good it is.

I wasn't saying it was crap. The game looked amazing the gameplay was just a bit bland, I did enjoy it at first, than I took a second look after I was able to beat the game at lvl. 5. loonylion you cannot deny that level scaling is B.S. and so is the ending and main quest. I find it hard to deny that fast traveling and usless skills made the game bs. The visuals were amazing, i am attacking it as an RPG, and it is not a very good one. Read the RPG codex review of it I found it eye opening. According to Bethesda FO3 will have approx 212 endings. Our friends at NMA calculated that by Bethsofts calculation Fallout had over 1 000 and FO2 had ovr 10 000 endings? what is a different ending according to bethesda? anybody?

    No ? :-\

Now I don't know anything about Fallout....but if Bethesda have the rights....
they can do what they want with it...
If you don't like it...don't buy it.
Being a fan doesn't give you the right to assume you can decide which direction the franchise should take...

    If I bought a mug....
And decided I wanted to put ice-cream into it...
But someone who has a similar mug or a mug made by the same company, told me off for doing it....
I wouldn't be happy...It is after all, my mug

Pardon me if I feel radically changing the entire design philosophy and canon of the franchise is wrong to do. Why would Bethesda even buy the Fallout name, which doesn't really have much name recognition anymore (Fallout:BoS proved that), if they were just going to radically change everything? Pardon me for not drinking the Bethesda Kool-Aid.

Bad comparison. This is more like taking the Holy Grail and then using it as a toilet. Do you technically have the right? Yeah, I guess so, but it's a huge slap in the face towards millions of people and there really is no reason you should be doing it.

I love it when people answer their own questions...

Comparing Fallout to the Holy Grail..... :-\
Now who's making the bad comparison...?

Holy Grail I think so good sir. Fallout beat out FF7 for RPG of the year 1998 Tim Cain might not be Jesus, but he is pretty damn close. Here is another comparison

    I have a door.
    I love my door.
It functions very well and I love using it.
My door is good at what it does.
    My door is I2-D TB.
    Bethesda buys my door.
They turn it into a wall completely changing its function and making it usless.
Once more they tell every one it is a door.
but, it is a wall and it will never be a door again.
Bethesda took a whole different direction than any one wanted or expected.
Now the 'door' is usless although it may be prettier it is not what I wanted and it is targeted away from series fans. They should of just made a post-nuclear RPG, and i use that term loosly, instead they ruin a series plus bethesda wanted name recognition that is why they bought it. Why waste millions of dollars just to make a post-nuclear game?

Is nobody here a fallout fan? ANY BODY?

How did Fallout: Tactics sell? How about Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel? Don't be so dense. The Fallout franchise was as dead as a door nail, and the majority of Bethesda's consumers didn't know or care about it before they acquired it. The only thing it did was get the notoriously rabid Fallout fans to start spewing hate towards Bethesda. It was a dumb move, and all it's done is piss people off (Fallout fans) or make no difference at all (Bethesda fans who will buy anything they hype up and put out).

Still you, saying the fans should just shut up and let Bethesda do to whatever they want to a franchise they know nothing about. Let's say EA decides to buy the Metal Gear Solid franchise after Konami runs into financial difficulties and decides to turn it into a generic FPS. Do MGS fans have the right to be pissed off? Of course they do, and anyone who says otherwise is being ridiculous.

I have also spoken to one of the developers in the ask the devs at the bethesda webpage and he just pretended to be a robot. Do I want the developers to pretend they are robots? NO all I wanted was the answer to my question, which was very basic by the by, which he didn't answer. Asking the devs gave me about the same ammount of pleasure as beating it to "Naked Moose Magazine", it's a little funny to look at,but in the end it is just downright disgusting. One thing FO3 has going for it is the graphics, because lets face it the game looks amazing, I just hope it feels the same way. One thing that is undecided is the V.A.T.S. combat system. One thing that baffles me is the dog, in an interview a developer said that you only get one dog, you can only have one dog, and if he dies he is gone forever. that being said the dog can grant you things and advantages that are impossible to get without him. His name is dogmeat a refrence to FO1 and, not only is he a combat assistant, but he also can sniff out hidden items, have special events, and sniff out hidden people. i don;t know which dog to love more, The Fable 2 dog or the FO3 dog. and lets face it as a fan i am forced to buy and play the hell outta this game like a sonavabitch, even though I blast it daily and am considered a 'purist' by bethesda, even though I was banned from the bethsoft fourms, and even though it goes against the series to try to be popular (because sales are more important than fans ), i will enjoy it, I am just unhappy with the direction bethesda is going, not only with FO3, but with all of their games.

I'm a big fan of Fallout. But I honestly don't see what's wrong with said link. Can you explain to me exactly what they've done to betray the Fallout universe?

I mean it just seems like they've taken a different part of the world and expanded on it, to me.

Im actually looking forward to fallout 3 being oblivion with guns. I am so tired of RPGs that have/are the following:
    JRPGs
    Turn-based tactical.
    Linear storyline
    Linear questing.
    Confined spaces/non-sandbox
Level-ing up/experience consists only of combat(in the original fallouts combat was almost 80% of where you got experience, not cool) .
    Fantasy themes.

My only gripe is that V.A.T.S. crap.

What they shoud do is make it some kind of "bullet time targeting" instead of stopping time and making combat action point turn-based.

I can't believe that you hate Fallout 3. I mean it's not a bad game but i think that the enemies could be better. In oblivion i got stranded some place and couldn't tell where i was going but on Fallout 3 i think its a lot easier. I think that VATS is alright on the game but sometimes it's bull. But its good that it gives you the option between VATS or normal fps. The quests are quite amazing and the guns..... Unbelievable beasts...... The mirv can 1 shot kill a super mut behemoth. I think the guns put this game up alot
