I'm picky when it comes to dubstep.

 

So what do you like?

Skrillex?

 

Not so much the artist as the style.

I don't like dubstep without vocals, for one.

Dubstep is the monopolization of a select few audio engineering techniques. Realistically, "dubstep" should be a categorized element of electronica rather than an entire fucking genre of music. But people like their wub so what does my opinion matter?

It's not even that I think all dubstep is bad, I just think the the inherent goal of the genre is to create something imitative, derivative, and which tethers itself to bland repetition of techniques. So yeah, in a word, stupid.

Dubstep is the bane of electronic music imo. It's basically just random sounds mashed together with a wub wub effect. I don't know what people see in it, but I can't stop you. Happy wubbing.
