After installing recently daemon tools because i had to re format my PC due to comodo's firewall buggy software i find that the creators are now piggybacking malware on their program, i ran a malware bytes scan and to my surprise there were quite a few malwares:

Maucampo Adware: mods adds while browsing based on your preferences.

Opencandy Adware too, performs similar to maucampo.

Somoto Adware once again, performs much like Opencandy and Maucampo it spies what you like to browse and sends the data while modding the ads based on that.

Overall for those unaware Daemon tools lite is now packed with adware that can be harmful to your PC

Also Daemon tools acknowledges this and does not really cares.

herd protect says that the installer is indeed riddled with malware.

    Cnet reports the same story

I suspect this may be a regional thing because I couldn't get it to install any additional software.

Daemon tools has always had adware attached to it from day 1.

I've never seen a single ad from it though...

It's now attached to the installer tho, as soon as you run it Somoto and opencandy are installed on the background w/o you knowing it.

It has ALWAYS been attached to the installer.
The only difference is now they have different adware than before.

Avast! dint either when i was installing the lite version, run a scan with malware bytes nor my COMODO Firewall picked it up.

In theory the pro version would not have malware, but better safe than sorry.

Is that so? odd my search via google and in the forums only reported the issue as of recent.

Back when I actually used Daemon Tools circa 2008 (hella obsolete now), AVG and COMODO would pick it up. Still, like I had mentioned, I never saw any adverse effects from the software.

I've been running Daemon Tools for years and have never seen anything icky. Not back when I was running XP and not now that I'm running Windows 7. And not that I am running Windows 7 I'm so loving the desktop gadget! ;v)

Adware like opencandy should be removed by free tool - malwarebytes, or by hand - soft2secure.com/knowledgebase/opencandy

Just installed DAEMON Tools Lite today and nothing . . . . . . . . no malware, no virus, no nothing. Just installed what it said it would install (it's because I agreed to it ^_^ )
