The other day i was out with a friend, just strolling through the city and we came across a shop that had been decorated for Cristmas. I mean WTF? Isn't it a little too early for that crap? I understand that people get in a festive mood, but 3 months before the actual holiday?

It's about how silly stores use the Christmas thing and how it's a load of crap. Basically Christmas ornaments and sales way before Halloween and after Christmas.

Any country with sales and stores will have the same problem. Well, in cities anyway.

It sucks, that money rules the world. Everything is just about money and profit nowadays. I still remember, how Christmas (or any other holiday) was about the family getting together, having fun and having a chance to talk to relatives you normally don't see throug the course of the year. But now it's just about buying a freaking expensive presents and stuff.

    @ Reider

Like you couldn't buy candy normally :D

On a similar note, a friend and I went into town at the start of our summer holiday in 2001, we attended a boarding school so our summer holiday always started 2-4 weeks before any other school in the country (we had longer holidays and less of them to make up for the fact that we boarded). Anyway we were literally days into our summer holidays, all the other schools in the country had another 2.5 weeks of school before their holidays started, and all the shops were full of 'back to school' displays.

Wow. Just wow. Maybe the shopkeepers have a time machine :D

Seriously, I don't mind things that are a bit in advance, but these things are just too much.

it drives me flipping nuts they've started putting out stuff for Christmas here too.
i didn't realize we had already had Halloween and time travelled in to winter.

it just destroys Christmas as by the time it actually comes i'm sick of the songs and want to kill Santa and the words "merry Christmas" send a shudder down my spine, it makes a jolly festival in to a hate filled few months.

I'm grateful, that people haven't started wishing "merry christmas" here yet :(

That's one of the reasons why i totally hate chrsitmas.

you have to remember, when the month ends with the letters "ber", you should think of the christmas season. that would be september, october, november and december.

Its also used as a advance notice to buy your gifts for christmas and prevent the well-known christmas rush where store give you the exxagerated prices because you need to buy that gift so badly to stop your "princess" ranting.

" I want that malibu stacy doll which cost hundreds of dollars.

Oh for fuck's sake.. You can't be serious? It's not even Halloween yet. Not even my birthday yet!

I hate that fucking holiday anyway.. For this year, I want a big bottle of vodka as a present so I can get wasted and sleep over the whole crappy season.

    Bah, humbug!

What pisses me off about the holidays is all the good shit comes out around at that time and fighting over stuff on "black friday" (day after thanksgiving sales) its nerve racking plus I am usually broke as hell by then too.

I own one of these x-mas shops you complain about(though I have not set up shop yet, too early). I sell utter shite; everyone knows they are getting shite but they buy it. Anyone who thinks that saving up some cash to spend a little more come X-mas is my bitch. Nothing is stolen, all is legit. I sell shite to people who value shite and I never advertise. I can get 1,000 singing santas for £1200, and I charge £9 for each of them. Put your money where your thoughts are and stop buying the shite I sell. Kill my business, please.

In New Zealand, they always speak about Christmas right after Christmas. They say, save up for christmas, set up a christmas savings account...

There are ways to avoid the long queves in shops. Just order via the internet. Or stand a line infront of the mall before opening time.

Why don't you just buy a cheap Spider-man doll, paint it pink and tell your little princess it's Stacy in a futuristic costume? :D

Prepare for a luxurious headache when you wake up on New Yea's eve :D

Why don't you just use the net for ordering stuff?

No one said anything about killing your business AND you do agree that it is too early.

They once said this on TV. I remember dad tried to throw it out of the window :D
