Best Not Main stream RPG

I'm looking for something not like final fantasy, legend of dragoon, or crono cross. Is there any other amazing RPGs with a lot of adventure feel and fast paced battle systems. I need something that grabs my attention.

 

Suikoden series

 

Tales series. A lot of the Tales games aren't localized though...

 

The Star Ocean series. I quite liked the story of Star Ocean 3.

 

The Breath of Fire series are good if you like old-school console-style RPGs.

 

Persona 4 is pretty fast paced and fun

 

.hack series

 

Persona and tales.

 

Golden Sun, whilst turn-based, is quite fast paced (in terms of battles). But the story is loooong and slooow (good, but maybe not what you're looking for).

 

Oh god Golden Sun (both gba and ds games) is horrible and overrated.

 

My opinion is different on those games. I actually liked them.

 

Not that I want to go off topic, or challenge you, or anything, but I'm curious as to what it is you dislike about them?

Just like to add that Golden Sun is a Nintendo game in a recommendation thread that's in the Sony section...

If we're going into the Tales games, my money would be on Abyss.

 

Golden sun is one of my favorites, but looking for new-old games that I've missed out on but have endless hours of gameplay to offer.

 

What is so difficult about using the control pad?

 

Jade Cocoon, Dark Cloud 1 and 2.
